VISTA Fireside Chat Series with Industry Skills Councils. Bob Paton, CEO Manufacturing Industry Skills Council (Manufacturing Australia) has been invited to give his impressions on how and what MSA, as an Industry Skills Council, has planned for 2009 and beyond. As the Manufacturing sector is of great great significance in Australia's economic directions, VISTA would like to be able to link MSA with those involved in manufacturing and related VET delivery. Bob will provide advice on the MSA environmental scan, work force analysis / development tools and the challenges mnufacturing within the current economic climate.
About MSA
Manufacturing Skills Australia (MSA) is addressing the skills needs of over 250,000 manufacturing and other businesses employing over 1.1 million Australians. We are the national Industry Skills Council, owned by industry, that is recognised by the Australian Government to ensure that the skills needs of enterprises are being met. We are a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, owned by industry and managed by a board from across industry. We have a range of reference and advisory groups and we constantly seek information on industry workforce development and skills needs. In our work we: Provide integrated industry intelligence and advice to Skills Australia, government and enterprises on workforce development and skills needs Actively support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of high quality training and workforce development products and services including Training Packages Provide independent skills and training advice to enterprises, including matching identified training needs with appropriate training solutions Work with enterprises, employment service providers, training providers and government to allocate training places

Cost: VISTA members $45; non members $70. (ex GST) This includes: 2 course set menu and coffee / tea. Drinks are available at bar prices
