VISTA Dinner event - An Evening with Farrah Tomazin, Senior Education Editor of The Age
December 17, 2008
VISTA is pleased to hold an evening / dinner event for an informal "fireside" discussion with Farrah Tomazin, Senior Education Editor for The Age. In an informal setting you are invited to share views about the State’s emerging policy and strategy directions, particularly for VET. Farrah Tomazin is The Age's education editor. After graduating with a bachelor degree in Journalism at RMIT University, Farrah joined the paper in 2000 where she initially covered courts and later, local government and urban affairs. She spent 18 months as the paper's education reporter, and in 2004 was appointed state political correspondent, where she played a key role in reporting the 2006 Victorian election. She now oversees The Age's news coverage of education policy, and the key issues shaping schools and universities across the country. In 2007, she won the Australian Council for Educational Leaders media award for excellence in education journalism. She is also a co-winner of the Australian College of Educators 2008 Victorian Media Award for her opinion piece, "Politics muddies the waters of performance pay for teachers", which examined the contentious issue of merit-based pay in schools. Farrah began her journalism career with the Leader Newspaper Group, writing for publications such as the Bayside Advertiser, the Stonnington Leader, and the Springvale Dandenong Times.
