In the face of rising unemployment and global economic instability, what skills will young people need? How can we best prepare them for the next step, whether employment, training or further study?

This joint VISTA VALA professional development event will offer VET professionals frameworks, strategies and ideas to help prepare young people for the challenges they’ll face in the current economic climate.

With applied learning as the underpinning pedagogy, the sessions will include:

  • Preparing for employment
  • Student welfare
  • Gaps in learning
  • Literacy /Numeracy skills
  • Economic situation - employment opportunities for young people
  • New technology and keeping y/people engaged
  • Interpersonal skills/’soft skills’ / employability programs that help with work readiness.
